June Goal Update

In hopes of holding myself accountable, I'm going to review my goals for the month of June.

#1 Finish redoing our table
Well this one was a big fat fail. We are off to bad start here. But not for lack of trying, so I give it a C!! We had planned to work on it last weekend, but it was just too hot to be outside doing it. The table itself is done and ready to go. We are just working on the chairs now.We will have to get on it though. We did however find this little thing to make the chairs super smooth! And we decided that we want to do liming wax over the "antiqued" part of the table. We are making some progress.

#2 Meal Planning
I have been doing pretty well with meal planning. The only problem is, I seem to get carried away with trying new recipes and then I end up spending more money because I buy a bunch of stuff we never have in the house. I tried to be better about that this week though. I wanted to keep the grocery list to around $100. Lucky me it was $101! Woohoo! Also, I know I'm a huge nerd for this, but I found a meal planning calendar that I really like. So I kind of get excited to fill it all in :) You can use it too if you like it, I found it on Pinterest:

#3 Read 3 Books
Done, done, and done. I'm actually reading my 4th book for the month of June right now. You can check out what I read here

#4 Organize our weeks
Okay, so I have been really good about doing this on Sunday nights. However, sometimes when I go look at the planner on the following weekend it still on the page from the previous Monday. So I definitely need to get better about using it throughout the week. I will say that we put a BUNCH of to dos in there and they all got done. Progress was made! Watch out, I have highlighters for all things.

#5 Do something different for me
I did do a few things for myself this month. However, none of them were REALLY that far out of my comfort zone. I got my hair done, (I mean color) which is something I have never done before. And I got a pedi last weekend and I have bright pink toes, which makes me really happy. I took time to read even though things were crazy busy because that always makes me relax. Finally, I didn't force myself to blog. I love blogging, I really do!! But some nights when I haven't planned ahead I just dread whipping something up. So I bet you noticed I was MIA a few normal blogging days this month. That was some extra time just for me to relax after a crazy day! I will keep working on this goal.

Weekend Wrap Up: I Love AC Edition

This weekend was hot hot hot around here. I think it got up to 98 on Saturday, which is less than we originally thought, but still hot! We spent plenty of time in our bedroom with the ac blasting for the past few days. That said...all of my photos from the weekend are of my cats.

Friday night we had pizza night (my fave) and both of us were exhausted. What else is new, right? Saturday morning we woke up and watched Orange is the New Black. We had a bunch of errands to run so we were off. I had to return a few things at the mall so we did that first. Then we needed to get a new ironing board. Target for the win. Then Justin wanted to get some new shorts. We went to Old Navy and they had an $8 short sale. You can't really beat that deal. After that we were off to Costco to stock up on a bunch of things.

Sunday was pretty low key as well. We finished off Orange Is The New Black Season 3. We had a short visit over at Justin's parents house. We stopped by a friends house to check up on their kitty while they are out of town. Then I went to get a pedi while J hung out here. We weren't all that exciting, but it was good to get to spend some time together!

I also worked on our meal planning for the week since we have had plenty of relaxation time this weekend. Here is what we are having this week for dinner:
  • Hawaiian Chicken with Coconut Rice
  • Blue Cheese Bacon Burgers
  • Chicken Avocado Peach Salad
  • Pear and Gorgonzola Flatbread
You can check out my food and recipe Pinterest board for the recipes and inspiration :)

I hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites #19

It is finally Friday! YAY! I love Friday :) especially this week. I cannot wait for some rest. Anddd maybe some blog catch up. I have been a little MIA this week...I'm working on it. Here are my faves!
Volcano Candle
I feel like everyone always has this candle and I just love it. So I finally got my own :) I have it in my bedroom right now and it smells so great!
This Anthropologie shirt that Andrea has raved about!
I have wanted it forever. When I went by there this week I searched high and low for it, but they didn't have any left in my size. They told me it was sold out online as well. I was sad. Then today I just randomly decided to check online and what do you know? They have my size and on sale still! Done :) and so excited.
Allergy Eye Drops

Okay, these things are the real deal. And they are so expensive even with insurance. So I really really wanted my favorite eye doctor (aka Tara) to get me another sample to last throughout these last few weeks of allergies for me. It is the best! My eyes will be fine for a few weeks :)
I <3 Minions!
Minions are my favorite, but this little thing is really my favorite this week. A friend sent this to me earlier this week and I have laughed at it almost every day since.
My little ac unit

Haha Gus loves to sit in front of the AC. You know it is hot when the cat can't take it! It is going to be HOT here this weekend. Sometimes I wonder how I did it without any ac for like 25 years of my life. But thank goodness we have this little guy now. I might melt this weekend. Wish me luck!

Today I will be linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites and April for 5 on Friday!

Have a great weekend!

What's Up Wednesday June Edition

First of all, I'm sorry for ditching out on the blog world yesterday. Monday night was just too chaotic, I couldn't even throw something together!

How is it the end of June? Where did June go? I seriously wrote April on something today...oops. I'm way behind. I'm linking up with Shay for What's Up Wednesday and Holly for Waiting on Wednesday. Here is a quick What's Up post on our life!

What we're eating this week...
I'm seriously obsessed with all things Tortellini. I love it! Also my mom made these delicious blueberry muffins over the weekend and I brought some home, so I'm loving those too!
What I'm reminiscing about...
With all of the grad parties in June, I have been thinking about when I was a kid a lot lately. Something about being with family seems to pull that out. Sometimes it blows my mind to think about how quickly time flies.
What I'm loving...
Coffee. For real, I have been drinking SO much of it lately. So much more than normal and I just can't stop.
What we've been up to...
We have been driving up north quite a bit lately. The last 2 out of 3 weekends have been spent up there. So that has taken up a good chunk of time.
What I'm dreading...
This. Yesterday it said 106 for Saturday. I hope it goes down even more. We don't have AC here, we just have a little window unit for our bedroom that is super expensive to run! Yikes, too hot for me!
What I'm working on...
Still working on our chairs to go with the newly redone table. It is hard work! We were hoping to get the rest done this weekend, but we might not want to be outside on Saturday!
What I'm excited about...
Being home for a few weeks! Being gone for most of last week made me appreciate all of the things I love about home. Like my bed, and my kitties, and my husband, and a kitchen ha. I'm glad we don't have to leave town for the next few weekends.
What I'm Watching/Reading...
I'm really excited to watch Astronaut Wives Club this week. I missed it last week because I was so busy. And I'm currently reading Primetime Princess, which Jess recommended to me a long time ago...I'm finally getting to it.
What I'm listening to...
I'm pretty much still in love with the playlist that I talked about last time. Other than that, plenty of Andy Grammar and T Swift.
What I'm wearing...
One // Two
Most days lately you can find me in one of these two tanks...yeah maybe I'm a little obsessed.
What I'm doing this weekend...
Hopefully just relaxing. There is plenty to be done, but last week really took it out of me. Still sleepy! But really, we will probably find places to go that have AC :)
What I'm looking forward to next month...
Our anniversary :) I can't believe it has been a year already!
What else is new...
We have been super busy over the past few weeks. Work is super busy, we have been gone, and it has just been SUMMER TIME. Lots of BBQ and corn on the cob!
What we are doing for the 4th of July...
We are not completely sure yet, but we will probably do a day trip to Hood River and find somewhere to watch fireworks at night.

Weekend Wrap Up: Father's Day Edition

First off, I need to wish Alyssa a very happy birthday! I love you so much and I'm so excited for this next year in your life!! 27 will be amazing for you :) and just for fun, here is a throw back to our amazing trip to Paris
We had such a whirlwind weekend. I feel like we have had quite a few of those lately. Summer is here! Justin met me up at my parents house on Friday afternoon. He got off early so he drove up on Friday. Not much went on Friday evening, we were both SO tired from a crazy week. We watched golf and went out to dinner with my parents.

Saturday morning we did a brunch for my dad for Father's Day. We all got to spend some time together, which doesn't happen as often as it should! We had some yummy stuff. We tried out this recipe!

We didn't use the pepper and onion hash browns, we just used regular ones. I thought it was really good. I don't love sausage so I really wanted to have a bacon dish instead. Yum!

Afterwards, we went to visit my aunt and uncle for a bit. That was fun, I definitely don't get to see them enough either. And I had also forgotten my cousins grad present in my car last time we were there so I needed to give that to her. Then we were off to another grad party for a family friend who just graduated from college.

We got to see all of our family and theirs so that was fun too! Lots of visiting this past weekend. And as usual I got so distracted and didn't take many photos. We did watch a lot of golf on Saturday though. I have never been all that interested, but the US Open was right near my home town this weekend so we took a special interest. I actually really enjoyed watching it, even though it is really long and they said fescue about a million times ;)
On Sunday morning we woke up bright and early to head home! I was so exhausted and really wanted to be home to get things ready for the week and see my kitties. We got home and went to get some groceries. Then we headed over to Justin's parents for an afternoon BBQ. Lots of golf, fathers, family, and friends this weekend!

Friday Favorites #18

So I'm finishing up a week away from home so my favorites are a little random this week...well I guess they are always pretty random ;)
Linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites along with April for 5 on Friday! Happy Friday!

Turkey Sandwiches
Does any one else practically live on turkey sandwiches when traveling? I seriously have had at least one every day this week. Some days even two. It like one of the only kind of healthy choices across the board when you are picky eater like me. Gotta love some Jimmy John's.

This view.

Oh my goodness. I cannot get enough of these Washington sunsets. I mean Oregon is pretty too, but this I really really love.
Nonfat Caramel Macchiatto
This has seriously been my life saver all week long. I don't know why but I have not been awake this week when I'm headed out the door. Maybe because I don't have my TV blasting the news at me? I don't know. But thank goodness for a Starbucks everywhere you look up here.
My Target Yoga Pants

I forgot sweat pants this week...yeah who am I? I don't even know. That is usually the first thing I pack. Anyway, I had to go to Target and grab a pair because its kind of been cooler at night this week. And I forgot how much I love these ones. They are like the perfect thickness. Does that make sense? I love when they aren't super thin but you can still wiggle around :) oh and they are not see through, I also hate when that happens.
My husband who FaceTimes with me so I can see my kitties!
How sweet is my husband? I miss him, but I really miss my kitties too. I love that he lets me see them. Yeah, we are nerds. Whatever I love it :)

Have a great weekend!
