Owning It: Time

I'm joining up with Christina today over at The New Mrs. to talk about the slightly crazy things we do. Confession time as some like to call it.

Today, I thought I would talk about how I can be super obsessive and crazy over time. I'm super conscious of time. I do a lot of things quickly. I mean I go to the bathroom like a million times a day because I drink so much water, but everyone always says woah you went so quick. I have my morning routine down to a science. If I take an extra 5 minutes in the shower I will be 5 minutes behind. I don't like to get up any earlier than I actually have to, so I like to know exactly how long everything will take. I feel like I manage my time pretty efficiently (minus napping). I guess it is because I'm the biggest creature of habit. Here are some ways that I'm seriously a little nuts about time...
Example #1: I have to be on time. If I'm late for something I will be so embarrassed that sometimes I don't even want to walk in. I get really stressed out over being late. I'm usually ridiculously early to things.

Example #2: If I'm driving somewhere for a meeting or dinner or something I will use google maps to tell me exactly how long it will take. It is kind of a way for me to gage traffic and set some sort of expectation. It also allows me to be on time. If google maps is wrong though and it makes me not be on time I kind of lose my mind. Or if I'm driving home from my parents and it should take 3 hours and it takes 5 hours instead, I will be mad about it for days. Yes, this happened last Friday and I'm still mad.
(Yes, I do plan on using this whenever I talk about traffic.)

Example #3: If something is supposed to last for a specific amount of time (meeting, class, work day, etc) and it happens to go over I will have ants in pants and be itching to run out of the room. Sometimes we will say oh today would be a good day to leave early. Then for some reason I end up staying late and I just can't handle it. I guess it is like I have already allocated that time to something else in my head so I get mad that I'm set back again. Even though leaving early would be a treat.

Example #4: If I have to get up at a different time during the work week I'm like completely miserable. My whole day will be thrown off if I don't get to watch the right news shows or I listen to a different morning show on the way to work. I just like things to be the same.
Example #5: I get REALLY REALLY stressed out if I have something to do on a week night and I'm out past 9pm (yes, I know that isn't very late, but I have a routine). Especially if my blog post isn't ready and I haven't been home after work. I just feel like there are so many things to do which means: I wont go to bed on time, then I wont wake up on time, then I will be late to work, and will have to watch different news shows, and listen to different radio shows, and the whole day will be off schedule! And now we have come full circle.

See...I'm pretty weird. But here I am, owning my crazy :) I love these posts because I think it is fun to bond with everyone over how weird we are! I hope you are having a great week!

10 Loves and 10 Hates

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the Bachelorette finale last night!
Mattie and Molly both nominated me to do this list of 10 things I love and 10 things I hate. I'm putting it all out on the table today and you guys can all get a peak into my life.

1. Football
We are big football fans in this house. Our weekends from September - December pretty much revolve around the games that are on. When I first met Justin I told him that we don't do things on Sundays in the fall because the Seahawks are on. He still keeps that in mind. I don't remember the last time I missed watching a hawks game. Then on Saturdays we are watching/going to Beaver games. Fall is a busy time around here but...

2. Fall
Fall is officially my favorite time of year! Here is why:
Football, sweaters, rain, colored leaves, all things pumpkin and spice, and soup galore!

3. Nail Polish
I have a serious nail polish obsession. Just look at my nail polish shelf...
I also have a whole "nail polish drawer" that is completely full.

4. Glitter
Glitter just makes me happy! It is sparkly and pretty. I just wish I could have more glitter in my life :)

5. Coffee
I know that I have posted this before, but it was seriously made for me. This is me. Every. Single. Day. I cannot function without coffee. Most people in my life know that it is best to talk to me after I have had at least one cup. My boss can just look at me and know that I haven't had coffee yet. I don't know how I lived for 20 years without drinking it.

6. Kitties
If I could, I would save all of the kitties! Justin's rule is no more animals than humans. But he lets Dude come over because he "isn't really ours" and we don't pay his vet bills. My two cats make me so happy :) I don't understand when people don't like animals. I just want to help all of the animals and give them happy lives!

7. Deals
I love a good bargain. I actually tend to buy things for myself only if I can get some kind of deal.

8. Books
I'm a book worm. I would love to sit in one of those crazy looking libraries that you see on Pinterest for like a year straight. It would be amazing. You can see what I've been reading by clicking on my tab above.

9. Boots
This goes along with my whole "I love fall" thing. I wish I could wear boots all the time. I just think they look nice. I also feel like they are easier to run around in than heels. I also just feel so comfortable in them. In the fall/winter I seriously wear boots almost every day. Sigh...dreaming of fall.

10. Pancakes
I love pancakes. Especially with peanut butter and syrup on them. It just tastes like a little slice of heaven to me. Sometimes if I'm in a bad mood Justin will ask if I want pancakes for dinner and I get instantly excited.

1. Traffic
I think I inherited this from both of my parents. I cannot stand traffic. It can seriously break me down in minutes. I mean, yes, I do handle it. But I really really hate it. I currently live about 7 minutes from my office. If we ever move I'm in for a rude awakening.
2. Clutter
My mom always made us pick everything up before we went to bed at night. We usually had a pile on the stairs of things that needed to be brought upstairs with us. No dishes were left out and all tables were cleared get the picture. I cannot live with things everywhere. I will seriously clean up right away or get horrible anxiety and sit in a room that is cleaned up.

3. Pants
(please ignore my dirty mirror, I cleaned it immediately when I saw this pic...)
I don't like wearing pants. I can handle jeans, if they are comfy. I can handle leggings because, come on, they are pretty much just like pajamas. I literally do not own a pair of dress pants right now. The idea of putting them on makes me cringe. I would rather wear a dress everyday than put on a pair of dress pants. I cannot handle it. Even with jeans, the second I walk in the door I will immediately change into pajama pants.

4. Insomnia
I do not sleep well. I used to be able to fall asleep any time anywhere. Over the past few years that has gone away. It is a struggle for me to fall asleep and then even bigger of a struggle to stay asleep. It is so frustrating.
= so much night time kindle reading (yes, I know that supposedly makes it worse).

5. Allergies
I can handle the day to day allergies, they aren't all that bad for me. But for a few weeks out of the year my allergies are horrible. My eyes water/itch like crazy and I have a stuffy nose. The worst part about it though is that the roof of my mouth itches (so weird, I know) and my ears get plugged. It is such an uncomfortable thing and once it happens nothing will help fix it! Trust me, I have tried everything.

6. Being Too Hot
This is pretty much every day lately.
Okay, I live in Oregon for a reason. It isn't too hot here. It is normally perfect. But lately, man it has been HOT. I have really fare skin and when I'm in the sun for even a few hours I start to get heat rash. It is not fun and it doesn't get any better until I stay out of the sun for a few days. On vacation it never works out. I can't handle being too hot!

7. Really Sad Things
Movies, songs, books, any of it. I don't like sad things. I like to be around positive sunshiny things. I feel like I hear so many sad things when watching the news or talking to other people. I don't like to fill my free time with even more sadness. That can get depressing really quickly!

8. Snakes and Spiders
I feel disgusted even writing that down. If there is a snake or big spider on a tv show or movie I will have bad dreams that night. I was watching Naked and Afraid with Justin one day and I had to leave the room because the snakes were making me squirm so bad. I've always been afraid of spiders. The snakes things is rather recent. Ewwww.

9. Seafood
Not gonna happen. I know, I should love seafood because I live in the Pacific Northwest. I really do not like it all. It is just a weird texture and I can't really eat it without gaging. Maybe it is all in my head, but I still cannot get over it. I try certain things every once and a while to make sure I still don't like it. I never do though. Ick!

10. Feet
I cannot handle it if someone else's feet touch me. I mean I really hate it. My friends used to make fun of me for it so bad when we used to have sleep overs all the time. Justin knows better than to touch me with his. My friend's kiddos things it is hilarious to watch me cringe when they put their feet on me (that is your kids Tara!). I don't know why. I don't think my own feet are all that gross. I do feel bad for the people who do pedis though so I always make sure to tip them a good amount because they just touched my feet.

This post is super long! Sorry. I hope you enjoyed getting to know a bit more about me.

Red, White, and Blue Favorites

I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for the Favorite Things Linkup today!
I'm not quite sure what the "Red, White, and Blue" theme is supposed to be all about, but I'm going with my favorite girly type things!

star violet // freshwater// forgery
I'm a huge fan of mac eyeshadow. The first one is the closest I could ever get to wearing red eye shadow! It is so pretty and is definitely a different look for me. The second one is called Freshwater. Being a Seahawks fan means that I have to rock the blue eye shadow, right? My mom says it reminders her of the 80s. But really I love to mix it with shimmery number 3, Forgery, and make it a little bit of a lighter blue. It works out well for 4th of July too!

one // two // three
This first top is more RED in person than in the pic. But I love it! Probably because I do not wear a lot of red. It is so soft and such a great color. The second, my WHITE top, is one of my favorite shirts this summer. I seriously love it with everything. It it so comfy and I can even wear it to work. Number three is my new BLUE jeans that I got from the sale. They have the perfect amount of stretch and fit so great!
This American Flag Scarf!
For some reason I have been loving all things American Flag lately. I really want this scarf. I feel like it is so cute and whatever you could wear anytime and not just on American holiday, right??

China Glaze Ruby Pumps (here)
This is my FAVORITE red nail polish. It is glittery and oh so pretty. I love love love it. I used it for 4th of July nails and always use it for Christmas nails too. And then anything else in between :)

Okay that is it for the Red, White, and Blue. But I have 2 other things that I wanted to share. I dragged Justin into Nordstrom with me this weekend to do some returns. We ended up walking out with these shoes that he now LOVES. Seriously he hasn't taken them off all weekend. They look so good with jeans and he says they feel like slippers. That is how comfy they are!
And last but not least, I finally got to meet up with Mattie while we were at Nordstrom! And of course we took a pic for the blog world. Because you know, we needed proof that it actually happened ;) and I'm pretty sure our husbands both think we are huge blog nerds.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Friday Favorites #23

Today I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites and April for 5 on Friday. This is going to be short and sweet because I have been soooo busy this week and have had zero time!

Blueberry Margaritas
My dad made some DELICIOUS blueberry margaritas the other night. We really just did a standard margarita with a mix and then added some fresh blueberries. Yum!
NORDSTROM - Shop the Anniversary Sale through August 2
Yeah, somebody please stop me from going on this website! I cannot stop looking. And then finding stuff that I need. Ahhh! Well, I bought some wrong sizes in my first order and had to exchange a few things. I need to avoid that place for the next week.
These pretty ladies

I got to see all of these ladies this week. It makes me happy to be here and to see all of them :) Especially Jess because she lives too far away and I never get to see her!

Blogger Things: Tips & Tricks #2

Today I'm going to continue with my list of blogger things that I have learned over the past few months. In case you missed it, you can find my first post here. Every time I read other posts like this, I always tend to learn something new. I hope you can learn from me too :)
4. iPhone blog "app"
This is probably my favorite bloggy thing ever. Okay this is really just an IOS blog icon, so I'm told. But Justin likes to say I made my own app. Which is funny, because it is really just a webpage. But it looks like an app.

I saw this tutorial post from Biana at B Loved Boston way back in March. I pretty much thought it was the coolest thing ever and wanted to have it right away. It look me a little bit longer than I expected to get it right. But now, when someone asks how to I read your blog on my phone, I have a really easy answer:
1. Go into safari and type in
2. When it loads click on the box with the up arrow at the bottom of the screen
3. Click the box with the plus sign in it that says "Add to Home Screen"
4. That's it! My blog will be an "app" on your iPhone. This makes it super easy for people to read along!
5. Font
I don't like it when it is really hard to read blogs that have teeny tiny fonts! You can easily change the size of your font in your template. If you just want to change the size of the font in each blog post, you can use this code:

.post {
    font-size: 14px;

You can go into the "HTML" tab of your post and paste this code at the very top. If you don't want to use 14 point font, just change the number :)

6. Search bar
A lot of times I will go back to a blog and try to find some old post that I read. Maybe it is because I want to link back to it or maybe it is because I want to try the recipe, or I need the shoes, etc. I go nuts when there is no search bar because that leaves me scrolling through SO many posts to find this one thing. I like to make it easy on everyone else and allow them to search. So how do you add a search bar?
1. From your blogger dashboard click on Layout
2. Click on "Add a Gadget"
3. Choose Search Box
4. Add a title and choose your settings
5. Push save
6. Move it to wherever you want it on your blog

Wedding Wednesday: Details Part 4 - Ceremony

Today I'm going to continue with my Wedding Wednesday series over here. This week will be all of the details from the ceremony. As a reminder, you can see all of my other wedding posts by clicking on the Wedding tab at the top :)

So I know this is so ridiculous, but one of my wedding requirements was that I had to have these folding white chairs. I don't know why, but I just really like that look. Thank goodness they had these at our venue. Our aisle was pretty simple. We lined it with jars and flowers on shepards hooks and then at the "alter" we had the two wine barrels with the big huge flower baskets on top. Our florist had actually suggested the big flowers at the end of the aisle. I loved the way it turned out. We got our hooks for like a dollar a piece during a Memorial Day sale at JoAnn's. I ordered a bunch of ribbon for the wedding so I tried to find somewhere online that I could get it for super cheap. I bought all of mine here. I really wish I would have bought more of it because I wanted more on the back row of the chairs, but they ran out.

People do a lot of different things for their ceremonies. We decided to do a wine box where we both write a letter to each other so that if we encountered hard times we somewhere down the line we could remember how we felt in the days leading up to the wedding. We got our wine box on Etsy here. I also got my garter on Etsy here. And it was perfect. I don't know why a garter was a hard thing to choose, but it was.
I found this pin of a program that I really loved.

I asked my best friend Katie if she could make something similar on photoshop and she blew me away. It was absolutely perfect. I ordered them online with vistaprint. They have tons of sales so I just waited until they had one for what I needed and then had them printed up. I really quickly whited out the names below so you all could see the final version (that is what those weird lines are).
We went super casual with our little ring box, but I thought it was pretty cute. And our ring bearer was seriously so adorable with it. Justin is a twin, so he was told to give the box to Justin's twin brother but he got confused and gave it to Justin. So funny because they are identical, but to me they just don't look alike.
And here is the final product. Aka my favorite view from the day of!
I could go on for a million posts about details.
As usual, I'm linking up with Holly for Waiting on Wednesday

Show and Tell Tuesday: Our Home

I'm linking up with Andrea today over at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday. Today we are showing off our houses. Most of all, I'm excited to see all of these beautiful Pinterest like houses from these amazing bloggers. You won't find big pinterest projects over here though. We don't have a forever house yet, so we are still renting! Our place is the perfect size for us right now and we have definitely made it feel like home :) And we don't have to fix anything that goes wrong ;) So kicking off the tour...

Here is what you see when you walk in the front door
If you look to left you will see this (woah, sorry about the bad lighting. Best I could do!)
Here is the other side
Then we have the dining room area which is still connected to the living room.
And of course the actual dining area. Please note my new bag from the Nordstrom sale sitting on the table! Yay it came :):)
And then we have the kitchen, which you can kind of see in the photo above.
I promise that floor is clean ;) it just looks dirty all the time. #OCDstruggle
And here is our guest room which I love :) Everything is white in here so it all matches. And there isn't a lot of "stuff" because it is the guest room. Sometimes I just lay in here and read too.
And our tiny bathroom! I wish it was bigger, we don't handle a little bathroom all that well.
And I already blogged about our bedroom here so you can check out that post too. It is my favorite room!

That's it! We love our little home :)
Now it is time to look at everyone else's.
