Weekend Wrap Up: Frozen Edition

Hi friends!! Sorry I have been a little M.I.A. lately. Things have just been so busy I haven't even had a minute to put a blog post together. I do have some pics to share from the weekend though. I have still tried to at least take some pics to stay on top of things :)

Friday night I drove home to Portland after work. On my way home I got a call from my hubby with THE BEST NEWS! He got a job in Seattle :D and it is a job he really wanted and he is so excited for it. Originally they asked him to start the day we leave for Cabo, but then the date got moved so he can still come. He is so happy! And of course that makes life so much less stressful. When I got home we went out to dinner to celebrate. We came home and watched Scandal, my fave, not Justin's. I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed early.

I slept in on Saturday for the first time in weeks. Gus jumped on my face and woke me up. He missed me. I needed to get up anyway and start packing. We had lots of packing to do and thankfully we got a lot done. Saturday night we went out to dinner with Justin's family for his brothers birthday!
On Sunday we had a special surprise for Tara's daughter for her birthday. We took her to Frozen on Ice :) She seriously loved every second of it.

Tara bought us these super cute matching umbrellas since it was so rainy out. We loved them.
Afterwards I packed up and headed back to my parents. But, it is all okay this time because next week Justin gets to come up here for real. And this week I got to bring my kittens with me.
That is what has been up with us lately. Lots of packing and driving between cities and being super busy. I'll work on getting back to blogging as regularly as I can. Until I do though, bear with me! I promise I will be back!

Show and Tell Tuesday: Halloween Costumes

Today I'm ready for another installation of Show and Tell Tuesday with Andrea over at Momfessionals. You all better appreciate this post because I just went through EIGHT (no, I'm not exaggerating) boxes of photos in my moms hope chest to find all of these in the very last box. Apparently I started organizing these pics a long time ago...too bad I started with the wrong boxes.
Anyway, here are a bunch of our Halloween photos. I'm going to try to guess the years.
1994
Maybe 1994 again. I think that I was Princess Jasmine :) Kristopher was obviously Batman.
So cute! Disney love forever.
1996 I'm not quite sure why I needed to have a green face...
1997 Hahahaha I don't know why my bro was a cell phone. I'm laughing so hard at that.
1998 I have loved cats since I was a little kid.
1999 We used to always take these photos in front of the fire place. This was the first year that Kris was allowed to be something scary. Clearly I wasn't on the same page.
And then I found some cute fall pictures too :)
And then there is this huge break and then high school...
 And college...

I hope you enjoyed my little stroll down memory lane today. I'm excited to see all of the other Halloween pics!

Weekend Wrap Up: WSU Edition

Hi everyone! So sorry that I was completely wrapped up in life last week and had zero time for the blog. This moving transition is harder than I thought it would be. I have been seriously exhausted every single day after work. I'm also not on a schedule yet and I feel like I haven't had time to do all of my every day things...like blogging.

This weekend we went to WSU to watch the Beavers play the Cougs. Well and most importantly to visit my tiny baby cousin at college. I felt old around her and all of her college friends. We are definitely living a very adult life these days. Minus when we go to WSU ;) We headed out early on Friday afternoon. It took us about 5 hours to get there. That drive is seriously brutal. It takes forever and there are so many parts where you can get behind really slow people. We finally made it though and got to see Emma (my cousin) before she had to leave for a sorority event. We stayed up late and had lots of fun. My aunt and uncle have a trailer that they bring to the games to stay at for tailgates. They are intense tailgaters down there.
Saturday morning we woke up for game day and started the party bright and early. The weather was soooo nice down there.
I got to meet Emma's roommate, Keelin, who is so sweet. It seems like they got pretty lucky in the roommate department. These girls get along so well!
We were ready for the game. There were so many beaver fans there!
Here was our view of the field.

The Cougs kicked our butts. We played horribly. It made me so sad. I guess I shouldn't have any expectations for this season. Wahhh!

It was so much fun though. I was exhausted. I came home and took a two hour nap after my Seahawks also lost. I hope everyone had great weekends too! I'll try to be more active on the blog this week.

Weekend Wrap Up 10/12/15

Well another crazy busy weekend has come and gone. I feel like it just started :( and I definitely didn't catch up on any sleep like I wanted to. But it was worth it!

I left work early on Friday since Obama was going to be in town later in the afternoon. I didn't want to get caught in the craziness. I was able to leave for Portland before traffic was too crazy. For the first time in a longgggg time, my drive didn't take all that long. I got there in time for dinner with my hubby! My kitties finally remembered who I was and there was a lot of snuggle time.
Saturday morning we woke up and met a friend for breakfast in our little neighborhood. It was yummy and good to catch up. Then we went all over trying to find free boxes. We had no luck. We ended up buying some at uhaul. After that we headed out to watch Cole play some football. It is really cute to watch little kids play, but also sometimes I can't handle it because I just want to run out there and coach them. Ha! Cole played well and he was out there bossing everyone around. It was hilarious.
We left early because it started to rain and I was stressing about packing. We headed home and made SO much progress. We packed up almost everything we could while still making it livable for Justin. I didn't touch the kitchen, but other than that we are in good shape. On Saturday night we got to go out with Brandon and Tyra. It was so much fun. We just love hanging out with them. We also went to this bar that has this really cool secret backroom and you have to have a code to get in. It was so cool. Except they were having a private party back there so we couldn't hang out there.
Sunday we got up and watched our Seahawks lose :( heart breaking. Then we packed up my car (again) and I headed back to my parents. This whole long distance thing is not fun. I don't know how people do it long term. Phew. Another great whirlwind weekend in the books. How was your weekend??

Friday Favorites #28

Happy Friday!! I love Friday. Especially since it is the only work day that I get to wear jeans now. It makes Friday so much better :) Here are my favorites for the week..
Essie - In Stitches
My bff Katie wore this when we went camping. I knew I had to have it. Isn't it the perfect fall color?

Mattie is my favorite! And she is getting married this weekend :) I'm so excited for her and Michael! Pop over to her blog and visit her and send her lots of love. I hope you have the best day of your life, Mattie!! The blog world will be thinking of you. If you don't read her blog already you need to get on it. Like now.
I might have to start a new Friday Favorites piece called...
Reasons I Love Living With My Mom
1. She did my toe nails. This not does not happen when I live with my husband.
2. She makes me dinner.
3. She washes all of the towels.

Train Shoes
Did you hear that I'm a commuter now? I take the train in to downtown and then walk 3/4 a mile to work from there. If you know me at all, you know how much I hate this. Ugh my hair is all messed up when I get there and I'm so hot and worst of all I can't wear cute shoes. I tried to wear my nice shoes the past week. I'm officially over it. I love my train shoes. My feet are thanking me. Who cares if I look crazy when I walk in? Whatever. These are the best. And they are so easy to just throw in my bag when I get to work. AND I don't have to sit in traffic...the biggest plus to taking the train.
Going home tonight will be my favorite.
And by home I mean Portland :)
I miss my bed. And my husband. And my cats. I cannot wait!!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Real Talk - Resumes

Okay, so all of you know by now that I just got a new job. I thought I would share a little bit about that experience with you. I wasn't applying for a ton of jobs. I just found a few that I was really interested in and I thought I would give it a shot. I didn't love my current resume, so I was thinking about using my newly learned PhotoShop skills to design a new one.

But really, that sounded like A LOTTTTTT of work. I noticed on the Creative Market Freebies that there were some resume templates on there. I decided to take a deeper look and realized that they had so many awesome resumes! I found so many that I liked. I really wanted a designed resume that had a picture and some icons. Here were my favorites:

But ultimately, I decided on this one:

Seriously I found so many different options on Creative Market. Stephanie had been talking about it forever and it took me a while to figure out all of the awesome stuff that they have on there. I want to buy everything. I feel like so much of the stuff is so affordable. I feel like you can end up spending so much money on resume designs, graphics, stock photos, etc. You can get the resume and cover letter for less than $20. I thought it was a steal of a deal. That is why I just have to show you guys.

And here is the best part...I have applied for plenty of jobs with my old resume. One night I started using this new one and applied for four jobs. I got calls the very next day! Apparently, this new resume stood out so much more than my last one. I had applied for similar jobs at my new company before. I really think that this new resume design helped me land this new opportunity.

Bookworm Wednesday #2 - September 2015 Reads

Yay! It is my favorite time of the month, Bookworm Wednesday! Link up with us to share what you have been reading. Check out Molly's latest reads here! You can see what else I have read this year by clicking on the What I've Been Reading tab above :) Here is what I read in September...

#29 Down the Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison
I have no idea why I was so drawn in by this book. At first I saw it on Amazon and read the first chapter as a preview. For some reason I thought it was fascinating. Maybe because I love celebrities. Also though, the book made me feel like Holly is just a normal person. She is very upfront about her feelings and personal struggles in this book. As weird as it sounds, I felt like she was very relatable. It was so interesting to me to read about her struggles and how deep down she really is just like everybody else trying to make it through life.

#30-#33 The Lying Game 1-4
For real this time.

Okay, I like these characters so much more than I had originally thought. Specifically, I really like Emma. She seems much more normal than all of the other girls. And by normal I guess I really mean less snobby. I do like the other girls too. It has been interesting to see their characters develop throughout the first four books. The premise of this book is that Emma, who grew up in foster care, comes to meet her long lost twin sister Sutton. Only when she gets there she realizes that her sister has been murdered. Each book focuses on a specific character (or characters) as the potential murderer. At this point, it is pretty obvious that she is going up the wrong path with her suspects because there are 6 books in the series. I always try to figure out why each suspect is actually not guilty. I'm really interested to find out who the actual killer is...if there even is a killer at all ;)

Show and Tell Tuesday: First Jobs

I'm back at it for Show and Tell Tuesday. Today we are talking about our first jobs! I'm linking up with Andrea over at Momfessionals to share.

Okay, so my very very first job was working for someone who worked for my dad. In that job I was paid a lot of money to put together binders of information and create spreadsheets. Also, I was just really lucky and got to work with my dad so he drove me there and I got to go out to lunch every single day with all his coworkers. Of course everyone wanted to buy me lunch because my dad was their boss. Again, not like the real world, but it was fun :)

The first job I ever got on my own was a front desk worker at the YMCA. This was in high school and it was so much fun. I worked there for years and had many close friends as coworkers. This was my first job in customer service and set a good foundation for me going forward. There were so many good role models for us there so it was a great first job. They were also super flexible with our hours because so many of us were high school students.

Justin's first job was working for a local healthcare nonprofit. He did the typical things that a 14 year old can handle...filing, putting books together, mailing, etc. He actually went to a really cool private high school that had a corporate internship program. All throughout high school he spent one day a week at a corporate internship. When he graduated high school he had already been through multiple internships and was familiar with the working world. How cool is that??

Excited to read about all of your first jobs today :)
Don't forget to link up with us for Bookworm Wednesday tomorrow!! It will be fun!

Weekend Wrap Up 10.5.15

Another weekend has come and gone :( It wasn't complete without a Seahawks game. It was sooo good to see my hubby though. Thank goodness for the weekends.

On Friday night I went to grab happy hour with my friend Hannah before she leaves for a year long journey across Asia and Australia. She picked me up and we went back to her apartment for a drink. Somehow she talked me into coming out to dinner at this cute little Mexican restaurant. I got to meet a bunch of her other friends and hang out. Then, brace yourselves, I had my first ever Uber experience. Which was completely uneventful.
Saturday we decided to sleep in (yay for sleep!). We caught up on a few shows in the morning/early afternoon and then we headed over to my brothers house to hang out with them for the evening. My niece was SO adorable. She is just the sweetest little girl. I was showing my brother and his wife some of the dumbsmashes from last week. Gracie thought those were pretty funny. She kept saying more more more :) We had pizza and for the first time since high school....we ate round table's dessert pizza! Oh my goodness how I have missed it.

I might have to try this recipe and make it myself! Yum!
Sunday was quite uneventful. We went and looked at a potential apartment that was super cute. We haven't decided if we want to get a place or just stay with my parents for a bit. We will see how the cats get along...since that may be a factor in our decision. I meal planned for the week with my mom. Then we watched football and I didn't do laundry because Justin's laundry is all at home :/ hopefully he can figure out how to get it done without me. Sad to have another week apart from him :( Hopefully it will be one of the last ones.

Favorite Things About The PNW

I'm linking up with two of my real life blog friends today, Mattie and Julie, to talk about favorite things about our states. And as Mattie suggested, I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites too since these are still favorites :) Woo! Since I'm kind of in limbo between states right now (Washington and Oregon) I decided that I would keep mine a bit more broad and go with the Pacific Northwest in general.
It is oh so pretty!!
Something about just sitting by the water here makes me feel so calm. I just love it. When I lived in Tacoma I used to walk the waterfront all of the time with Jessamyn. I don't really feel like it can better than the PNW sunsets.

Mountains to Beaches
You can seriously drive from the mountains to the beach in a matter of hours. This makes it easy to go to either beautiful place. There aren't many places in the US where that is possible :)
Get to See All 4 Seasons
In some states you can easily skip over spring or fall. I love that we get to experience all of the seasons. Especially fall, since you know that is my favorite. I like that we have the subtle changes between seasons and we get a bit of time to adjust. We think it is crazy when there is a 20 degree swing through out the day. From what I gather, this is very common in other places in the US.
Not Too Hot and Not Too Cold
There are so many places that get so hot in the summer and so snowy and cold in the winter. Well not here. Okay, maybe like once a year. But other than that it says pretty comfortable. I mean, this summer was probably just an exception. I could not live anywhere with 90+% humidity. When I went to Florida my hair was so disgusting. And I just feel so sticky and gross. I also feel like I can't breathe in the humidity. I know that people say you kind of get used to it, but really I just love the fresh air here :) It makes outside time so much better.
Coffee & Beer
What more could you need? We have the best coffee here. There is coffee everywhere you go. I don't know how people get away with NOT drinking it. We also have so many breweries. There is a beer for everyone here in the PWN. Come try some :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!
